Frequently Asked Questions

Home AC units are measured in tons—some of the smallest AC units are only 1 ton, while the larger ones are 5 tons (for residential properties). If you are looking to purchase and install a new AC unit, you should determine exactly how much space (in square feet) you need to be cooling and then choose a unit accordingly. A larger air conditioning unit will draw more humidity out of your room and ultimately drive up your energy bill.

Although your furnace is fueled by gas, there are still many components that require energy to operate. These parts include:

  • Circuit boards. These relay information between the furnace and thermostat.
  • Blower motors. Using power, the fans propel the heated air into the air duct system and push waste products from the combustion process out through the flue.
  • Relays. These are switches within the system controlling gas flow, the fuel regulators, and the thermocouple.

Due to the many different makes, models and customer needs, price is an issue that can only be solved by doing a thorough evaluation of your home and existing equipment. There is no charge for an in-house replacement proposal.
